Membership Categories

Membership Category  Eligibility  Supporting Documents
Full Membership Open to endorsed clinical psychologists who hold accredited post-graduate qualifications in clinical psychology.
  • Copies of any documents listing any change/s of name/s (if relevant) and
  • Copies of testamur/s (degree/s) OR copy of transcripts containing itemised subjects
  • Evidence of any previous registration or licensure as a clinical psychologist in an international jurisdiction (Overseas Qualifications with an endorsement in Clinical Psychology from the Psychology Board of Australia prior to Nov 2006

Associate Membership  Open to graduates of accredited clinical psychology programs who have not yet completed a registrar program, and therefore have not yet attained endorsement for clinical psychology.
  • Copies of any documents listing any change/s of name/s (if relevant) and
  • Copies of testamur/s (degree/s) OR copy of transcript/s containing itemised subjects demonstrating completion of an accredited post-graduate degree in clinical psychology
Student Membership Open to currently-enrolled students of an accredited postgraduate clinical psychology degree. 
  • Copies of any documents listing any change/s of name/s (if relevant) and

EITHER

  • Proof of enrolment in an accredited post-graduate clinical psychology degree (e.g. a copy of your transcript downloaded from the university website, a letter or email from the Director of your university postgraduate program declaring your enrolment, or any verifiable document proof of enrolment) OR
  • Proof of full time enrolment in a PhD in clinical psychology (e.g. a copy of your transcript downloaded from the university website, a letter or email from the Director of Research declaring your enrolment, or any verifiable document proof of enrolment
Non-Practising Membership  Open to members of all of the above categories where they discontinue practice for a period of more than six months. 
  • Documents as required for Full Membership or Associate Membership of ACPA (depending on which membership category you would ordinarily be eligible for)
  • Evidence of current engagement in work in relation to clinical psychology that does not involve practice as a clinical psychologist OR
  • written communication stating you are retired or on extended leave.
International Affiliate Membership Open to individuals located overseas who meet the requirements for Full Membership, or are otherwise eligible for this category of membership.  
  • Certified copies of any documents listing any change/s of name/s (if relevant) and
  • Copy of current Registration or License to practise as a clinical psychologist and
  • Certified copies of testamur/s (degree/s). Overseas qualifications require full academic transcripts.

 

Reciprocal Arrangement with the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists

ACPA also extends a warm invitation to members of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists to enjoy seamless membership of ACPA as part of the mutually supportive relationship between our two associations. NZCCP members can join ACPA by submitting certified evidence of their membership of NZCCP and receive the same level of membership as enjoyed with the NZCCP.
